Genentech Serve Day

On Wednesday, June 18th, we had the incredible opportunity to partner with Genentech to serve the Tenderloin District. Here are some stats from the day:

  • 65 Genentech employees showed up to volunteer and serve
  • First time that SFCI has appeared on the Genentech Gives Back list of volunteer opportunities
  • Volunteers sorted donations and worked at Thrift Store, prepared food at Rescue Mission, served a delicious Buffet Lunch for 70 residents at Crosby and Elm buildings (volunteers sat down and had conversations with residents over lunch), Prepared and Delivered 120 Meals to 3 Buildings
  • Several (4-6 people) signed up to sponsor the Health and Wellness Clinic
  • Positive feedback from Genentech team on the experience and what SFCI is doing in the TL
  • One GNE colleague from my department suggested we have our department of 25 hold and all-day offsite and team building activity at SFCI
  • Two GNE volunteers wants to bring their children to serve at SFCI
  • We have a GNE volunteer proudly wearing her just purchased TL Made sweatshirt

What a great day it was. Proving again, that one person can make a difference. 65 people, can make an IMPACT!
