January 20, 2015 marks one year since the Discipleship Home launch. What started as a dream to raise up indigenous leaders and change a community from the inside out is now a reality. Because of a few generous individuals who were willing intervene, we see the chance for men to belong to a healthy family and walk towards freedom in Christ. Now with a year of experience under his belt, Discipleship Home Manager, John Luoma is a part of a greater mission to see men reconciled out of isolation to God and to His family, to find freedom from their addiction and healing for their trauma.
Over the past year, we have seen God move powerfully in the lives of the men who have come through our doors and spent time as part of our family. Two of our residents got baptized this year, and several more moved closer to God and freedom in Christ.
While there have been setbacks and challenges, God has used them to form a solid foundation of perseverance in our staff team, and to shape a clearer vision of what He is doing here.
What we are seeing is God’s kingdom growing up in the midst of the harsh reality of the inner city of San Francisco. What we are hoping for is that the Discipleship Home will raise up leaders from the community to be a part of the transforming work God is doing through His church in the inner city of San Francisco.
Join us in praying for the men who will move into our home this year, and for those who will graduate and move forward in their recovery and their walk with the Lord.
