San Francisco City Academy
1. SPONSOR AN INNER CITY CHILD
Through our sponsorship program, you can empower an urban child with education. More than providing a monthly financial gift at $38/month, you are the gift to your child through letter correspondence, visitation, and prayer. You can show how there is something bigger than what is going on in a child’s world around them.
2. MENTOR A CHILD
Our mentorship program involves meeting with a child on a regular basis to inspire, encourage and empower them while coming alongside their goals. Through our mentorship program, many students have been inspired to take a leap of faith to pursue their dreams and grow socially and spiritually.
3. AIDE A CLSSROOM
Help a teacher empower urban children academically, physically, spiritually and socially while solving problems creatively. Become a hero and make a rippling impact in the life of a child, classroom, and teacher. Responsibilities may include organizing books, reading with students, facilitating reading quizzes, organizing scores and reports, and managing classroom behavior.
4. SERVE LUNCH TO KIDS
Help feed our hungry City Academy Warriors and facilitate a clean and safe lunch period. Our K-8 school offers free lunch to our students every day.
5. COOK MEALS FOR THE HOMELESS AND INNER CITY KIDS
Help cook lunch for our K-8 students and our Rescue Mission. Our commercial kitchen cooks over 140,000 meals for the community. This is the heartbeat and driving force to many of our ministries and outreaches in the community.
6. ENGAGE WITH INNER CITY KIDS OVER ARTS, MUSIC & GAMES
Invite many of our youth friends to a positive environment filled with arts and crafts, followed by a large group activity, worship, an encouraging message, and lunch! Make every Saturday Super for our kids! Super Saturday is one of City Impact's first programs started.
Adopt a Building
7. BUILD FRIENDSHIPS AND VISIT PEOPLE WHO ARE SHUT-IN
Adopt a Building is a long-term volunteer opportunity to deliver meals and build relationships with people who are shut-in. 30,000 residents live in 305 buildings in the inner city of San Francisco.
Health & Wellness Center
8. HOME VISITS TO PEOPLE SHUT-IN
Each week volunteer health professionals with the assist of non-medical volunteers perform home visits to those most isolated. Health professionals can join the medical house calls team and meet residents where they are in need of medical attention.
9. VOLUNTEER AS A HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
Health professionals can volunteer at the clinic and provide specialized and urgent care to the residents in the expanding Health & Wellness Center. We serve over 3,000 patients each year. Our volunteer providers are encouraged to uncover the emotional root causes to many of our clients’ chronic diseases.
10. FEED THE HOMELESS
Serve food to the homeless and hungry every day. Come alongside indigenous leaders from the Tenderloin community. Our Rescue Mission welcomes people every day Monday through Friday and acts as respite home for many.
11. WORK IN OUR THRIFT STORE
The City Impact Thrift Store not only serves as a low-income store to resource people in the community, it serves as a place of refuge for vulnerable women and men in need of help. Help organize our stock or give direct customer service to others.
Help tell a story of City Impact and the Tenderloin through video and still images. Capture the work going on day to day. Help edit photos or footage remotely to develop new content.
13. GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Assist the communications & marketing team to share stories through digital avenues. Design content on Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects.
14. TECH SUPPORT
Empower the administration team by addressing any technical issues or thinking creatively to improve technical systems. Empower our K-8 School and staff with technology.
