Serve Day

CRU Serve Day

CRU served at City Impact for their 2019 Winter Conference in San Francisco on Saturday, January 19. Around 200 students gathered for worship, a brief training, and encouragement from Pastor Roger Huang, founder of City Impact, before breaking out into groups. Pastor Roger shared about how he began serving 35 years ago, and there was no one to welcome him to the Tenderloin, no one to show him the ropes. After making 50 sandwiches and through prayer, persistence, resilience, City Impact has become what it is today mobilizing over 8,000 volunteers a year.

Students served in different outreaches including Street Ministry, Meal Prep, Meal Delivery, Kitchen Operations, and TL Revive’s sit down outdoor cafe. We are so thankful for those serving alongside City Impact, and a long-term ministry that will be here the next day.

Thank you CRU, Cru LA, CRU San Diego, Cru Cal Poly Slo, Cru Central Coast, and Cru UW!

Genentech Serve Day

On Wednesday, June 13, we held the Genentech Serve Day to intervene on behalf of the people in the inner city of San Francisco. About 30 team members from Genentech volunteered through Adopt a Building, delivering 212 meals to shut-in residents as well as our Kids Summer Kick Off Party. 150 inner city kids came to the party for games, prices and fun!

Thanks you so much Genentech and team members for leveraging your resources for the benefit of others! We are changing one life at a time!

October 7 Serve Day

On Saturday, October 7, 2017 Marin Covenant, Bayside Church, and CPC Danville served in the Tenderloin district (inner city of San Fransisco). SF City Impact volunteers and team members served in different outreaches including meal deliveries, kids carnival, meal prep, building parties and medical outreaches.

Here are some details on the day:

  • 1400+ meals served
  • 20 patients medically assessed and provided over 40 medical services
  • 40+ kids attended the kids carnival
  • 7 building parties (community sit-down meals + bingo for residents)

Every effort made comes alongside a long term ministry that will be there the next day. With each connection made, City Impact team members offer further resources to residents for rehabilitation or further development to help break unhealthy cycles.

Potential follow ups will be made in the coming weeks.

Thank you again to all the volunteers and team members who served for the day! Special thanks to Gina, Manny and Michelle for your leadership. Your willingness to serve is greatly appreciated by City Impact and the Tenderloin residents! We exist to intervene!

If we don't go, who will?

Genentech Serve Day

On Wednesday, June 15, over 160 team members from Genentech served in the inner city of San Francisco. Genentech is a leader and pioneer in biotechnology committed to bring patients the medical solutions of tomorrow.

Genentech team members served in our Thrift Store, and our Home Visits Program, including meal delivery and medical checkups to those most isolated. Team members also helped cook and prep fresh meals served to the residents. 800 meals were prepared and served to residents as well 4 inner city kids sponsored to help provide education

Beyond one day of service, City Impact is an idea that one person can make a difference. Hubert Pun is a leader in his community and his family serves here in the inner city multiple times per week. He is an employee at Genentech, a champion at City Impact and a hero to his friend Rick. Hubert helps mobilize over 10,000 volunteers a year through City Impact to help people focus on others. More than that, Hubert builds personal relationships with people like Rick throughout the week and come alongside the lives of others in need.
