OVERVIEW

SF City Impact is a non-profit organization that exists to intervene on behalf of the people in the inner city of San Francisco.
SF City Academy’s mission is to empower urban children and release them to excel academically, physically, spiritually, and socially. We believe students should have a solid foundation in both academic and character development to succeed in life. Our goal is to ensure that students succeed.


ROLE SUMMARY

Supervise students under the direction of the teacher and perform specific duties as assigned

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • A commitment to Jesus Christ as personal Savior with continuing evidence of spiritual growth
  • Agreement with the San Francisco City Academy Statement of Faith
  • Must have good organization and communications skills

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, and materials

  • Assist in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity

  • Track daily student attendance, help review homework, and grade tests

  • Assist in providing small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to specific needs

  • Help plan daily and long-range lessons, classroom activities, and maintain student records

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior during lunch/recess settings

  • Alert the teacher immediately to any injuries or special needs of individual students

  • Check student work for compliance with teacher's instructions

  • Collect and display suitable material for bulletin boards and decorate classroom as needed

  • Assist in implementing all classroom policies and reinforce the reward/discipline syste

  • Inventory classroom supplies and help generate purchase orders to restock necessary items

  • Help maintain order in the classroom and monitor students to keep them on task

  • Perform office assistance tasks such as photocopying, filing, and phone calls as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Agreement with the statement of faith and core values of SF City Academy

  • Love for Jesus and His church

  • Agreement with the San Francisco City Impact Statement of Faith

  • Must have good organization and communications skills

  • Be punctual for work and avoid making appointments during scheduled work time

  • Maintain professional relations and show patience with parents, teachers and other staff

  • Refrain from criticism of teachers and fellow staff members

  • Maintain confidentiality about student behavior, classroom, or family life

  • Supervise the classroom if the teacher is unexpectedly pulled away for short periods of time

  • Attend class field trips and help with transportation of students to and from the field trip site

  • Follow established procedures and guidelines as found in the SFCI and SFCA handbooks

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm

HOURS

40 hours per week; Non-Exempt
