Rescue Mission Banquet
The Rescue Mission Banquet area is where we can be intentional in how we love and serve the residents of the TL. We will pour coffees and serve pastries as we listen to, pray with and love the people that come in for a cup of coffee. Baristas and people interested in food service needed!
Join this team to help to register and welcome the guests that will visit the Jones Street Outreaches. You will be the first face they see and will give our guests a name-badge. Warm and friendly volunteers needed!
Can you speak Mandarin, Cantonese or Spanish? We need you in our translation team! The TL is home to many young and elderly immigrants from Asia and Mexico, many who have arrived as refugees with little or no English skills. The inability to communicate their needs have prevented them from being able to receive the assistance they have badly needed to improve their lives. You may also be helping our Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish speaking young friends at the Kids Outreach to communicate with our staff and volunteers.
Join this team to help provide basic and free medical services, and offer an ear to listen and a hand to guide others. Medical experience preferred but not required to serve on this team!
Join this team to help minister one-on-one with the Tenderloin’s homeless and residents. This is a very powerful outreach and requires anyone willing to pray out loud and minister to someone who needs to hear from the Lord.
Join this team to cater to one of the greatest needs of the Tenderloin District. This team is an extension of the City Impact Thrift Store. Bless the broken lives of the TL by passing out clean clothes to those in need.
Join this team to help throw building parties in the apartment buildings. There is something powerful in being a good listener and neighbor in the TL (inner city of San Francisco). Sometimes we don’t need to offer an “outreach” to the building as much as we need to offer “life and celebration” in the buildings. Here is our chance to get alongside our neighbors, bbq, eat, hangout, play games, and get to know some of our neighbors in the TL.
This team will provide loving beauty treatment to women visiting our City Impact site. Team members will participate in a variety of stations (e.g. Make-Up, Nails, Hair Styling).
Those who sign up for KITCHEN will prepare all the food for 7,000 meals. Over 3000 lbs. of turkey (turkey and turkey breast) will come through this kitchen. Activities include: Deboning turkey, cooking mashed potatoes, cooking, slicing and chopping vegetables. Any level of experience is welcome. This job requires volunteers to move quick, work well with others, and is the first team to get started for the day. This team will most likely miss the day's orientation and volunteer briefing.
This team will be a part of reaching out to the youth of the community through door-to-door visitations and on-site activities. One of our most engaging and high energy outreaches!
This team will help with crowd control. During large events, it's nice to have help with keeping the volunteers and residents calm and organized as there is an order to the day. SFCI prides itself in making sure the community gets blessed on this day and needs security to make sure this happens smoothly. We need strong, orderly, yet kind volunteers for this job.
This group will prepare and pass out over 500 bags of groceries to those who attend our Thanksgiving Meal Service.
This will be held in two locations. Each location is half a block away from each other. This whole event is based on getting hot Thanksgiving Dinners to 7,000 people who have signed up in advance for these meals. The meal delivery job is an assembly line formation and there is always a lot of energy in this team. If you are planning on bringing kids, this is a fun place for them to help!
These groups hand deliver all the prepared food to the people. All deliveries are done by foot. Vehicles are not necessary; however, if there are few people that would like to drive, please let your leader know on that day. They will arrange for your group to take the meals that are furthest away. Families and those who don't want to be confined to one area love this task. All meals are carried in banana boxes to the assigned buildings. Often times, it might seem as if you're waiting around, however, this is the nature of the job. ALL the Meal Prep teams are doing their best to pump out the meals. So please be patient. This job is vital to getting the job done!
